Born to a Danish father and Brazilian mother in Rio de Janeiro, and immigrated to South Africa in 1987.
Freya attended Sandringham High School in Johannesburg, thereafter graduated in Advertising, specializing in Art Direction, followed by a post-graduate in Fine Arts at the Langeland Kunstskole in Denmark.
She has traveled extensively over the past 10 years, absorbing the culture, language, art and music of the peoples of over 60 countries.
Since childhood, she has been exposed to the creative energy of
established artists and musicians on both sides of her family, hence her
passion for painting, dancing, ballet and singing.
Freya has works in private collections in Los Angeles, New York, Denmark,
Florida, Germany, Australia and South Africa.
Miss Wissing has been commissioned to do a portrait of Mandela and flown to Paris for Le Bal de Paris charity auction and also participated in the Venice Bienalle 2009.
Collaborated with Gavin Turk, and assisted artist photographer Chayan Khoi.
